Hey! I saw that CD the other day and I yelled to my friend from across the record store, "FUCK! Cafe Tacvba has a live record!" Of course, my buddy is gringo, but he got into them after I dragged him to the Austin show. He digs "Eres" and thinks that "Dejate Caer" has the same beats to Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence." So wrong, no? I found out Cafe Tacvba is performing in San Antonio in July too. I can't wait. :)

So sick of Eres (even though it used to be one of my favorites) Make sure to do you reading on queer critical theory for next week. Just in time for my post.

Actually, Oso, I hated Cuatro Caminos when it first came out--the production seemed way too "anglo rock" (Radiohead-esque baselines, modern rock-guitars). I was dissappointed. But after listening to it after a while, the songs began to grow on me, "Encantamiento Inutil" being the my (it's got that Bjork "Vespertine" vibe--and is closer to Reves YoSoy than anything on the record) favorite tune. Still, give me anything off of "Reves YoSoy" or "Re" anyday. Also, here in gringolandia--ahem, Austin, I get my Latin rock way too late. :(

Talent oozes out of this blog! Before I forget yet again, mango season has started here in the Caribbean -- my husband brought me a whole bag of, guess... Cuban manguitos -- a friend of his gave him.

Glad to hear about your bro. If he ever gets hastled by the Man, you have him call me. I still haven't heard Tacvba yet: I guess i have some shopping to do. Oh and I gotta say it was a good day for me too: No barking from the dog - no smog - and mama cooked a breakfast with no hog.....

Nebur, my parents did hire an attorney. They felt a lot better afterwards, but damn... you people charge a lot!

Frances, I'm so jealous.

EMC, I agree with what you said. I liked Cuatro Caminos, but I longed for the days of Re when the music had a much different feel (ie traditional Mexican tunes and instruments).

DT, I'm not sure fantastic is the same word I'd use to describe Texans *ducks* (I know there are a lot of your people around the blogosphere).

Oso, what will the post be about?
