how you feel about that?

i agree with you about words and their potential to enact change... but there's something someone once said to me that made me reconsider the agency that i lent to words. he said that to truly be an activist, one MUST take action. words are not enough. i'm not sure if i agree with the fellow, but it's something to consider. and if your words are never read, they can never be considered. i've got to write a paper now. i hate writing about things that i don't care about. sorry. this is a little rambly.

i really find that words can cause change. How do you think that activists began. They all read something that inspired them to cause social change. I think that i want to be both. i want to write about change and begin to cause change. there is a thin line between theory and practice and alot of people don't know that that if you preach about theory you need to apply it as well (for example here at smith there are some professors that assigns us progressive books to read but often times can't apply the theory when there is class room discussions. it is often disapointing and disillusioning. but as a chicana woman it is important that we find new venues and pave a way for future generations to express themselves words. then hopefully we can inspire change or cause change ourselves.
