Although I haven't posted much of substance in the past week I have read a lot of interesthing things online. A sampling:
- La Brown Girl met renowned Mexican writer Elena Poniatowska and wrote a great account about it.
- Daily Texican made everyone sad with his blog about a song called Al Pie de la Tumba (At the foot of the tomb).
- Dee (aka loquent) said fire is fun.
- Efrain settled into a nifty new design and made me hungry for some frijoles de la olla. Hmmm... bean juice.
- Elenamary didn't give up her secret.
- Gustavo partied hard in Las Vegas and wrote all about. Let's give it up for debauchery!
- HP wrote about something we actually had in common (gasp!): a sense of respect for a young professor of economics, Roland G. Fryer Jr. The article in the New YorkTimes magazine is lengthy, but HP included some good highlights.
- Alejandra (of injust-spring) is still off raising her gorgeous son and who is teaching her the secrets of the universe. We miss her in the blogosphere.
- Irasali spoke up for the ducks and spoke candidly on her feelings about organized religion.
- Jason made me think about the fact that some of the group blogs covering LA don't really cover Latina/o issues too well. What a shame.
- Koku recounted a story involving groceries, a crackhead, and fifty dollars.
- Analisa articulated my disgust for garish Hummer's and people who don't follow parking rules.
- Lex reminded me of the importance of not sucking, kicking ass, effective budgeting.
- Oso made me want to chase after my missing inspiration. Abogado made us go eww with his link to some strange ducks. And Moreno contemplated whether or not the "casting couch" existed in Bollywood.
- El Pocho Abogado made me really glad I don't have any prof's with the affliction he calls Aggressive Crotch Display (ACD).
- Poorlittletumbleweed reminded me that it's really hard to hide anything from a mother. She also made me regret not having enough time in Mexico City last summer to visit Coyoacn and Frida's Casa Azul.
- Pop Life officially became a two-person effort and Junichi made me want to make a list of things that are difficult for me to accept. I can think of one right now: Oscar de la Hoya was nominated for a Latin Grammy a few years back.
- Regina lamented the fact that Catholic Masses can be pretty boring and un-engaging.
- Mari made me want to be in San Francisco so I could check out her friend's photo exhibit.
- Tank wrote a thought-provoking piece on guns, violence, and the most recent tragic school shooting on a reservation in Minnesota.
- Tortilla Sandwich wrote about the joys of chocolate animals.
- Wooj posted some cool pictures he took during his week at a conference in Philly, the City of Brotherly Love.
- Xoloitzquintle caught a "stupid cold" and then passed on the germs to his better half. Poor Sara.
One last thing, my roommate is really looking forward to Easter. She wants me to be able to drink again. (I gave up alcohol for Lent.)
