frequently asked questions

I'm across the street from my ta Tomasa's huge, beautiful house in la zona centro de Salamanca.

I got more time now for those frequently asked questions that I've been hearing since I arrived in Salamanca.

And that's it, well for now.

To explain my "I don't like Mexican guys rule"...

I went out dancing last night to a club that played mainly banda music. I don't usually like to go to such a place if I don't have a partner (guy friend, boyfriend) to go with. I just don't really like dancing with random guys.

Anyway, some guy asked me to dance. At first, I said no. He asked why and I explained that I didn't really like what the dj was playing. But then, he put on La Ingrata by Caf Tacuba and I couldn't resist. Las Persianas followed and I was finally enjoying myself.

So, nameless Mexican guy talked to me and asked me all kinds of questions (Eres de aqu? etc). However, he didn't ask my name. We danced for a while and then he started saying he liked my and all kinds of weird stuff.

Now, I have to admit, nameless Mexican guy was good looking. Plus, he knew how to dance, and he could spit game like the best of them. I let him buy me a beer and suddenly he's saying that he wants to come to LA to see me. He's the type of guy who leaves for months at a time to work in US cities like Portland, Chicago, LA and Atlanta.

Okay... so I know he didn't represent all Mexican guys, but his assuredness and cocky attitude really got to me. Especially after I told him I wasn't interested in seeing him again. I told him I had a boyfriend (yeah, news to me too!) and he didn't even seem to care. He started saying he was better than the norteamericanos because mexicanos are always better. Oh yeah, and because he works with his hands, that counts more than working with his mind. And then he started bragging about how much money he makes.

Nameless Mexican guy also tried to tell me that my guy was probably out doing the same thing he was trying to do - pick up on cute girls.

He left me alone a little after that and I went back to where I was sitting with Gaby, my cousin.

And that's why I don't like Mexican guys. No... I'm kidding. The rule is more a joke than anything else. In the past 4 years or so, I've only dated one Mexican guy and been seriously attracted to another. Since then, it's been other ethnicities.
