hay tanta miseria

[Note: there's an entry right before this one.]

Um, so why did three very bad things have to happen on the same day? I just don't feel good.

First, I heard that there was a horrible accident at the farmer's market in Santa Monica a little before 2 pm. A man in his 80s plowed through the street at about 50 to 60 miles an hour hitting people and stalls along the way.

Santa Monica Police Chief James Butts said that at least eight people were killed, including a 3-year-old girl. An additional 15 people were critically injured and another 30 were reported with minor injuries, Butts said.

I haven't seen anything on television, but just saw pictures online here.

Next, I read the Celia Cruz passed away at 77 years of age. Even though she lived a long life and gave so much to her fans, she'll still be terribly missed.

Que descanse en paz

Oh, and the last one is not so tragic, but still really sucks. Fees for students who attend UC schools are increasing by 30%. The minimum increase of 25% would add about $960 annually to students' bills.

Hay tanta miseria.
